It’s been a while since I wrote a new post or, for that matter, updated this site. I had a couple good reasons — or maybe they’re just rationalizations. I’m not in a position to judge. It’s up to you.
The first is that business was very, very good and any time I spent marketing was time wasted. It took me away from serving my current clients and writing. I was fully booked, turning work away. So my clip site went untended for quite some time.
And then I got sick. That’s the second reason. I won’t get into the disgusting, revolting details. You’ll have to buy me a drink to hear that story. Suffice to say, I found myself strapped down in the back of an ambulance on my way to an emergency room, then spent the better part of a week in an acute care ward.
After I got out, it took me about a month to convalesce. It wasn’t so much the disease affecting me as the meds they gave me for it. I spent weeks getting my mind and body adjusted to it all. The good news is that both my blood pressure and weight are way down. I actually feel great now, but I wouldn’t recommend the path to how I got here.
Still, that was a month of lost business. For a while, I just couldn’t concentrate for more than an hour or two a day. It was enough to complete the jobs I had in progress, but even that was a stretch and I appreciate all the flexibility my clients gave me with deadlines during that period.
It’s all in the past now, and I’m back at work full-time. As I suddenly have time to update my clips and write this post, though, you can correctly infer that I had to let a few opportunities slide and now have some open slots. If you’ve been waiting for me to have more bandwidth so I can work on something for you, then this is the perfect time for both of us.
I’ll be sending out my annual Thanksgiving greetings soon, so keep an eye out for an email, IM or however you and I usually communicate.
I’m always thankful for my career, my family, my friends and my lady love. This year, I’ll also be especially thankful for my health. And yours.
